I will have lots of options to choose from with these and more pictures to come!

What a great gift idea for new mothers and grandmothers!

Faith . Hope . Love ~ Lariat

I've been wanting to make something for a while now using my new Greek leather.  I've really been getting into doing more eclectic, rustic pieces. So I've been playing working on a new piece to add to my line.

Introducing my new necklace the Faith. Hope. Love ~ Lariat
I love a lariat style necklace! This lariat is made with a  square copper washer that is hand stamped with faith, hope, love but will fit up to 4 words of your choice.  I've also wire wrapped with copper wire a large tiger iron teardrop stone that has a mix of red, brown, tan, gold, and black. No two stones are alike. Both are wire wrapped onto my brown Greek leather cord which also comes in black.
You might remember a similar lariat that I made not too long ago...my Live. Laugh. Love ~Lariat. Very similar!

While we are on the subject of lariats...I have to show you my all time favorite!
I've been doing a a lot of ordering this week so I hope by next week to show you some of my new pieces that I'm very excited about!

Have a great week!

Fonts

my stamps

As promised I stamped out an example of all my fonts so you can see what your choices are now. They are a little sloppy and I apologize.  I had 2 monkeys playing around my feet while I  was stamping.  I'll make a better one when I get a new font. Hopefully soon! Please let me know if you have any questions about any of my fonts.
With Valentines Day in the past I plan on making some changes and additions to my work and shop. I'm experimenting with new styles and materials.  This is a whole new world for me artistically but  I love learning new things.  I look forward to showing you my new pieces in the coming weeks!
some of my tools
Oh and I almost forgot! Please share your Valentines stories of how your sweetheart liked their Bird on a Wire gift and if you gave it to them in a creative way!  I love hearing these :)

Have a happy Friday friends!

I made this necklace for myself! I've been wanting a necklace that included the year our family was established, mine and Justin's initials, our kids names. I also wanted to put my little trademark on it so that's where the mama  bird came into play.

On the copper skeleton key I have hand stamped the initials of the couple. The fancy brass charm has the year your family was established and the sterling silver washer has your children's names stamped into it with the swarovski cream pearls wrapped in vintage copper wire. The copper mama bird dangles above her eggs or babies. All 3 have been oxidized, brushed and polished to give it a rustic or vintage look. I wasn't very creative with the name so it's the Mixed Metal Rustic Family Necklace.

Have a great weekend!

Rustic Mama Birdie & New Font

well I finally had some time to create a new piece of jewelry. This necklace is copper and sterling silver. I have hand stamped it to look like a rustic nest. You can add as many eggs as you want to this nest since I just stamp them into the nest. The copper mama bird sits on top of her nest keeping watch over her babies. Both pieces have been oxidized, brushed and polished to make it look more rustic. See more of this necklace in my Etsy shop http://www.etsy.com/listing/92659466/rustic-mama-birdie-necklace

I'll have a new piece to introduce to you tomorrow. I'm still trying to decide what I want to name this one. It is a necklace that will include your whole family. I'll show it to you tomorrow!

Here is my newest font...I'm calling it my Casual font. I have it in upper and lower case. I'll post an example of all the fonts I have to choose from soon!

Welcome!

Welcome to Bird on a Wire's blog. This workshop is a place for me to show you my latest creations, stay in touch with my customers and show you things I love. So let me start by introducing myself...
My Name is Sheena, I am a stay at home Mommy and live with my little family in Nashville, Tn. I have a wonderful and supportive husband, Justin, which I'm sure you'll hear a lot more about. Justin is in law enforcement so in his off time he is my little helper. We have 2 beautiful children a 3yr. old little boy, Christian, and a 9mo. old little girl, Sophia.
In my past life aka before we had children I was a hair stylist and make-up artist. I guess I've always loved making people beautiful and beautiful things. My first piece of jewelry I made was my bird nest pendent. I just loved the beauty of the nest and having your babies close to your heart. Then from there I taught myself how to make jewelry by googling and I also have a dear friend that encouraged and mentored me. It started out as a hobby but quickly turned into a wonderful source of income while being able to stay home with our children.
I opened my Etsy shop in August 2011 www.birdonawirejewelry.etsy.com and I am in the process of opening an online shop. www.birdonawireandco.com Is still under construction but will be up and running soon! I named my new online shop Bird on a Wire & Co. because I dream of bigger and better things to come! So please follow me and my family as we see where this adventure takes us.
